Affordable drapes for sliding doors (wide and tall)?

Does anyone have any tips for drapes to use with sliding glass doors? It might just be me, but by the time you add enough panels for fullness it seems like I’m looking at $1,000 a window give or take. Does that sound right to folks? Is the correct rule of thumb that your panels should be 3x the width of the window for fullness?

Buy fabric you like and sew a top pocket (to gather on a drapery rod) and bottom hem in and make them as full you want. Yes, I say 3X the width.
