Do cloth drapes block sun from plants preventing growth?

Im growing some plants in my window, its only food being the sunlight coming through. If i were to put cloth drapes up on the windows would it prevent the plants from getting food? Are there different cloths that are designed for that?

all plants have different amounts of sun requirements and the same goes for the type of cloth.

why not check with your local nursery and see what they have to say or just google the name of the plant and see whether they need direct sunlight or diffused light.
